Never saw a set in person before (age & experience difference showing here) and was surprised to see it in Wal-Mart of all places (maybe I shoudnt be??)
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity
My doctor recommends them to hunters. I'm not sure why.
A lot of my glassworking customers use them as an inexpensive option to add (hahahahaha) reading power to a pair of very expensive plano power filter lenses.
I've carried those for years.
My OD just got a pair from Hilco. He wanted them for fishing. Told him I didn't recommend he suggest them to patients.
I occasionally used them back in the sixties/seventies. As I recall they were originally Fresnel lenses made by Optical Science Group, the folks that introduced the Fresnel prisms. Good beans for special purposes and trials.
They sell them at a local shooting range.
I think its because they can move them around on the lens to find just where it works best for them. I've done quite a few rifle and skeet fittings - Hell in the remake column. Fun when they come out well though and I love tinting lenses yellow!
I just got tired of people coming in for ready made sunglass readers, and not having anything, and off they go. Now it's yes I sure do have them, everyone of my suns can be ready readers.
P.S. it doesn't seem to work very well, I don't sell many, but I do have them.
I meant the tactics! They stick fine!
Lolz
I made a pair of FT for my husband for hunting. Up in the tree stand, the progressives didn't really work; he'd have to bend his head way far down to see the deer. So I made the Flat Tops with the seg set really low so he can still see to text his buddies in the next tree.

If you suffer from severe nonlinear waterfowl issues, you don't have your ducks in a row.
Blur, blur, blurry, blur.
But for the average WM consumer, cheap beats function...Always!
I bought 3 pairs of shorts there. Same brand, same rack, same listed size, 3 different colors - 3 completely different fits. Only one actually ended up fitting me at home, so I actually paid for 3 and got 1 that fits, 1 that I can wear with a belt and 1 that I could fit 2 of me in.
I think I misspoke when I said for hunters. My doctor recommends them for trap-shooters and guns with scopes. Which reminds me, why don't people who shoot guns wear tacticle grade shooting lenses? I had a patient in the other day showing my his Lehman prescription shooting glasses that are plastic. He said they sell them at competitions.
