Rodenstock is back in the USA ............................

    Press Release

Rodenstock is back in the USA
Venerated 137-year-old brand to once again offer frames, lenses and a full lab services.

DALLAS—Rodenstock, the storied optical brand best known for high-technology ophthalmic lenses and top quality high fashion frames will once again be available to U.S. eyecare professionals and their patients starting in Mid, 2015 through EGMA LLC.

EGMA Lens Factory LLC, a leader in the Middle East/North Africa optical industry and manufacturing partner and distributor for Rodenstock, has established a new laboratory and distribution center to be headquartered in Dallas Texas.

Headed by Poya Eghterafi, president & CEO of EGMA LLC, the new, U.S. beachhead will feature a state-of-the-art 15,000 sq. ft. optical lab to manufacture the full range of Rodenstock proprietary free-form lenses as well as AR coatings and photochromics.

“We’re very excited to bring Rodenstock eyewear production to the United States from overseas, and it provides several key advantages,” Eghterafi said. “By ‘reshoring’ we can benefit from competitive rates for skilled labor, proximity to customers, quality manufacturing and transportation costs.”

Also leading the EGMA team as senior vice president-lenses is Alan Yuster, an industry veteran of more than 25 years with key experience in management, sales and operations. Yuster has held several high level positions with leading eyewear technology companies, most notably vice president of lenses for Rodenstock USA in the 1990s
    .

“For the first time here in the United States, the Rodenstock brand will be closer to the retail customer than ever before,” Yuster noted. “EGMA’s investment in our new, highly automated lab facility will allow us to benefit from improved flexibility and deliver an unrivaled customer service experience and the fastest delivery times.”

Based in Munich, Rodenstock GmbH is best known for its superior range of free form progressive lens designs, such as Multigressiv, the first digital progressive on the market.

Please visit the EGMA booth for product preview at Vision Expo East 2015, Booth #4957 in the Eyewear and Accessories Area.

Yea another shot at the US market.

What are they going to offer to move business? Another branded product at a super premium price to compete against E,Z, or maybe a plant for Lux to get in the lab business?

Does anyone really care if we have a new brand to offer? How many same choices do we need to show we are savvy?

We only offer one lens option so we would be curious to see why we would change to Rodenstock.

    Probably a cool robotic lab.

I really enjoyed my work with Rodenstock frames. Granted, the last time I sold one was in 2001...

I always found in its day, the Rodenstock Multigressiv, ( and a handful of My Views) to be the most easily adopted to progressive for any power, of any lens up to that point. I had many very disappointed patients when it became too difficult to get from Florida then Germany. Patients never felt as comfortable with any others top of the line lenses when I switched them.

Of course it's other big issue is the premium price.

For it to work here imo someone from Rodenstock needs to work overtime to get it approved for VSP. Will it be available through Eye Med or is that a lost cause?

Their frames were top notch as well.

Thanks for the input. We already had one meeting with VSP and will see them again at Expo West for approvals.

I have a good-sized collection of their frames from the 60s.70s,80s. Beautiful and clean. I believe they were through Felix Mendelsohn.(SP?).
    Can't throw 'em out..
    And I loved their lenses.

Too little, too late. The market of premium progressive lenses is declining.

...................and maybe not if you look at their full pogram.

Rodenstock makes not only lenses, but also frames and instruments and lab machinery, which is a total other quality supplier that so far is not involved in optical on-line retail , which could by itself be a reason to be interested.

Redhot Jumper Josef Rodenstock founded the company 1877

    Our HISTORY

    Our HISTORY

Josef Rodenstock founded the company 1877 with the first fine-mechanical workshop in Wuerzburg, Germany. Nobody could suspect at that time that he would become the founder of a well known world-wide optical company. By 1891 120 employees worked for the company. They produced eyeglasses and binoculars, microscopes, telescopes etc. also numerous cameras and photo lenses.
For over 120 years the production of lenses was a key business of the Optischen Werke G. Rodenstock. With
the sale of the Precision Optics division, to which the Photo Optics belonged from the 1960s, the history of "Rodenstock photo lenses" was intimately connected with the history of the Optischen Werke G. Rodenstock.

I am open and listening to why we would use your facility and products. I am not a huge player but we do 100% premium product offerings and only want the best value for the client; that is not the lowest price but the best product at a price that makes sense.

    Are you showing to West?

Many on this board would welcome the opportunity to offer a product that makes us unique and is a value to our clients.

I still have 20 or so frames from them and use about 6 per year. Will be looking at what they have in Vegas.
