20/20 Magazine has just posted a new online CE course called Improving Free-Form Lenses with Variable Base Curves and Digital Individualization, written by Mark Mattison-Shupnick, Director of Education at Jobson Medical Information LLC.
This course is approved for one (1) hour of CE credit by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO). Course STWJH623-2

    Learn about:
    • the correlative relationship between base curve and good optics
    • the Tscherning Elliptical Chart
    • the origin of modern base curves
    • the optical problems inherent in standard back-side digital progressives
    • the benefit of a Variable Base Curve
    • Digital Ray-Path optimization
    • how reducing the need for compensation increases the opportunity for optimization
    • how the dispenser plays a critical role in the quality of digital lenses

Online CE TIP: Print and read the test questions before you read the article. Mark the answers as you read. Then, when you take the online test, you can just transfer the answers from your printed sheet.

This is the best lens and the only one we offer.
All of my staff will take the course just to learn the information.

I believe your method of producing lenses in Camber is the only real upgrade we have seen in digital lenses. I helped bring in the first Pentax lenses from Japan 12+ years ago and everything until the Camber has just been about the same as far as the consumer is concerned. Your lens has a larger intermediate with more total power in the bottom of the lens. The compensation and overall smoothness is untouched!
Thanks for bringing out technology that really makes a difference to the vision of the consumer and not just the marketing folks!

    Thanks for your enthusiastic support!
Here is a link to a PDF of the CE course. VIEW PDF
There is a download button in the upper left corner of the first page, in case you'd like to download and print. Your staff may find it easier to read through the text and mark their answers if they have a hard copy.
