Glass lenses

Hello! I have a friend in San Francisco who does a lot of painting of sheet metal, etc. As a result he gets acetone overspray on his glasses sometimes, which will obviously do violence to most plastic lenses.

As a result he has always got glass lenses, which he has been happy with. However, with his latest prescription (last one was 7 or 8 years ago) Costco stopped carrying them, so he went looking elsewhere - and could not find anybody who still does glass.

Does anybody know of a shop that still does glass on a regular basis in the SF area? My friend is a pensioner so can't really afford the prices he's been quoted (I suspect by people who'd do it by hand.)

I don't know about the prices in SF but i would think most private Optical shops should be able to get them. I know most of us in Oregon (Portland) still do

I'm in Minnesota, my lab is entirely glass. We don't do plastic of any kind.

CSC Labs makes glass lenses. They are located right outside of San Francisco. I bet if your friend called them they could tell him a vendor that uses their lab in his area.
