Sounds like an old optical wives tale to me, but the question has been posed. How does tint affect a person with dyslexia? Is there a hue that helps or hinders this disability?
If so, How?

Jane, this topic was a real can of worms the last time it was raised! I am in the team that says yes , a tint does help SOMETIMES. I have seen this in practice, but don't claim to know how it works. Clinical trials are currently under way in the UK, aided by Hoya I believe, they have a new lens to be available here soon which comes with a handy flipper device for assessment. I wonder if the effect is psychological sometimes but hey, if it helps, why not?
Come on the cynics!

So there was already an Optiboard discussion regarding this subject? I'd like to see it if you can remember the name of the subject thread. That's what we need is an Optiboard directory to common posts. You know, a way to ask a question that would pull up previous replies to similar threads. Did that make sense? :D There's a new project for ya SHteve! Although I would be surprised if you hadn't already considered the thought.
All of these threads can be found in General Discussion Forum Jane:
colour overlays for dyslexia
dyslexia/contact lenses
Irlen filters?(for Dyslexia)
Hope this helps, I don't know how to make them into links!!
;) That's exactly the info for which I was searching. Thanks for the direction.
Hi folks!
OptiBoard has a great search program that you can use to find old threads on any topic we've discussed here. Just below the sponsor's banner in the upper right corner of your screen you will see a row of buttons. Click on the Search button, second in from the right, and you will be taken to the OptiBoard Discussion Forums Search Engine.
I searched for "dyslexia" and here are the results:

:shiner: See, I'm not surprised. A little red in the face for not noticing, but not surprised.
Thanks Jo
Don't be red in the face. Once you start reading posts, you often don't think of scrolling back to the top to look for a menu.
I am the optician that designed the Hoya lenses for use in the UK.
It is much more complex than just flippers and dyslexia.
You would be staggered at what we do!!!!!!!
Optometry and optics will inevitably be changed.
(5 clinical trials in progress - 1 completed - the effects of stimulus on occipital cortex are staggering)
send me an e mail and I will send an e book
