plastic Ray-Bans on an adult cool or not?

Here is a thread I wanted to start for awhile. non technical just a fun discussion. I am interested in the feedback from fellow independent ECP as well as corporate box store feedback too dig into are style and fashion side.

We all know Ray-Bans and kids and 20 something's are popular, but stylistically do you feel plastic Ray-Bans on an older individual are cool or not?

    Well, it depends.

Some of the Raybans are kinda high-tech, so that works well with the older dudes.

The plastic dork look? Well, you're trying to hard if you wear "the dork" in the first place, but doubly so if it says "Rayban".

When are you too old to eat macaroni and cheese. I just brought Vuarnet sunglasses back for the third time, once a product reaches the level of classic it becomes both timeless and ageless. As for me, I don't think that Ray Ban is as sophisticated as other brands but that's for another question.

What irks me the most is seeing the newer wayfarer (which just looks awful and cheap) on well dressed folks who clearly spend the energy and money putting themselves together, only to sport ugly frames that they're bound to see on several teens and maybe a few elderly ladies throughout the day.

Depends on the guy, doesn't it? And the frames, as well. Clear lenses in a Wayfarer? You've got to have a very specific image or be under the age of 40 to pull them off. Something a bit more retro, though, with sharper edges, or something that's nicely in proportion to the wearer's face, can be a very slick look if the person has the confidence. I think that this is a nice, dressy look:

Redhot Jumper The more you hail Lux products the faster

    What a nice discussion ................

Looks like you have not read my post on free lenses and so forth.

If your patients like the Ray-Ban they can get it a factory price at the Lux website, including a pair of Rx lenses at no charge. Furthermore he gets free service like adjustments and so forth also for free at the Lens Crafters Stores.

The more you hail Lux products the faster that website will climb to the top and join their Oakley which is now at the top.

about plastic raybans on adults and other brands:

Under thirty look good in the straight brown or black

Over thirty need that inside colored laminate to soften the brown or black

Let's be honest your average Corinthian or man about town isn't going to don a pair of Ray Ban's whilst rocking a GQ look. That would be gauche.

Hey, if I send someone out the door wearing ugly a$$ glasses, you better believe I worry about how they look! If they really want ugly frames, I'll tell them to tell their friends they got them somewhere else lol

I'm 47! I love Ray-ban! I have the 5206 color 2479 With the red inside and white ray-ban name and black on the outside. I cant stop selling that frame. I have sold 10 of that exact frame and color is the past 4 mo. I'm also from Portland Oregon. The thicker black zyl frames are really in here. Doesn't matter what your age is. In fact I think it gives a youthful appearance!
HA HA HA!! Colem84! I tell them I cant let them leave in an ugly frame or we will go out of biz, I will lose my job and end up living under a bridge! It makes them laugh and loosens them up.

Rayban, the most popular eyeglass brand in the world.

Also the most counterfeited. Genuine parts dont fit the internet purchases.

All our Rayban customers are told this.

Ray-Ban is slowly becoming the $200 WP.

A lot if their frames aren't even acetate.
Most are made in china, with quite poor materials(ever notice the hinge is exactly the same as the one on a frame thats half the price, made by lux)
Wholesale prices increase every year, and every year more and more online opticals carry them(with free lenses).

yeah until you actually put your lenses in there that you want not crappy plastic!! haha ... i did mine with what i would normally get and they were only $25 less than it would be if someone bought them here ... I feel like they should be willing to pay that to get me because lets face it, i'm awesome.

I'd have differ with the general opinion here. I'm on vacay in Cape Cod, and spending time around the pool and Ocean. And I can't think of any other sunglass, for the money, that can be worn on the street, and taken directly into both salt and chlorinated water, rinsed off, and worn as good as new as a glassed-lensed, Ray Ban New Wayfarer, with their secure, heat and chemical resistant nylon frames. $130 retail. Selling them all day long. At that price point, customers just go for them.
