Hi all, my name is Shaun I am new to Optiboard. I have a retail and wholesale back ground within Australia. My wife who is from LA and I are making the move to the U.S. We are planing to open a boutique eyewear store. Can you guys recommend any good distributors who manage unique brands? We already have a lot of direct contact to brands but are interested in seeing what else is out there. Thank you in advance
What brands do you have in contact with, that way I can get an idea of what you are looking for.
How "boutique" are you talking? What sort of retail price point are you shooting for with your frame lines?

If you are from Australia, set yourself apart in LA, make a boutique of Australian frames.
In LA you will notice a higher number of Euopean import cars than the rest of the US.
Hit the pavement at home first. Australian will be a good niche

I do agree with the good doc above that there are many European brands and boutiques in the LA area. A bit of the Outback would be more niche!

You can check out our site to see what we carry, but we cater to older folks and it depends where in California you are planning on opening.
The LEF website is awesome and how we search for new lines now. All decent luxury and unique brands advertise on LEF.

Hey Established, I'd decide on your client / vibe and scope the competition. There are a # of eyewear shops on Le Brea near the Warby Parker shop but that may not be your market.
Be different ^^ think technology and maybe originality !
First go with a market study just to make sure about your clientele profile !!!
When everything is settled, you will be able to get a better idea of which brands you'll market ! (and get the best chance to sell)
However, speaking with experience, focus mainly on the staff training to make sure they can sell !!!
