    Regressive Technology in Computer Lenses

Can someone give me a simple understanding o Regressive Technology as it relates to how a Progressive Lens is deigned? I get how it works, but looking for more understanding of manufacturing. Thanks in advance for any help.

    The TL;DR version:

A progressive is designed for distance with the bottom having additional power.
A Computer or regressive is designed for near and looses a percentage of the additional power towards the top.

As simple and explanation as it gets, hopefully.

Degressive is the most common term used for PAL intermediate task lenses, although in a different application, this patent (the Definity PAL I assume) uses the term "regressive surface".
