Briot Accura CX - low battery

Hey everyone...I'm in desperate need of help with my Briot Accura CX edger. When my machine is on, my edger operates alone without stopping. On initial startup the screen displays "low battery". I have tried contacting Briot customer service but they are closed until Monday. However I did find this exact problem listed in the troubleshooting section on their website, which leads me to believe this should be an easy fix. But I can't seem to figure out their instructions. I have copy and pasted their instructions below. Has anyone else experienced these problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Briot Accura CX Troubleshooting:

ACCURA CX/CL : When machine on, my edger operates alone without stopping

Conditions : the edger’s battery power is too low.

    Action(s) :
Switch off the edger and press simultaneously the buttons

+ 3 + on/off until the edger begins the reinitialising.
Keep your edger “on” for 15 days in order to recharge the battery.
    If the problem lasts

    Thanks,

    Newbie

I had this issue when I purchased my Accura cx out of storage. I did the procedure you posted and it worked. You also may be able to replace the battery on the board if your electrical soldering skills are up to snuff

I have gotten this error twice in the last several weeks. Both times, it was soon followed by a fuse blowing inside the machine. As soon as the fuse was replaced, the "low battery" message disappeared. FWIW.

I figured it out. Had to press and hold 3 &⬆simultaneously. But I still get a low battery signal upon initial start up. I'm on the 10th day of the recommended 15 day recharging period. Hopefully that does the trick. In case it doesn't, I was able to locate a replacement battery by matching the numbers to the one on the motherboard. Radio shack had a rechargeable cordless phone battery cheap that isn't an exact fit, but with some modifications, it should do the trick. No soldering necessary.

I have some real logic problems with a 15-day recharging period. That seems really excessive.

    Update:

After leaving the Briot powered on for 20 days, it still reads "low battery" upon initial start. I'm guessing and hoping the battery is no good. So I rigged up a RadioShack battery that matches up with the numbers written on the original Briot battery but physically is slightly larger. The RadioShack battery is originally made for cordless phones and comes uncharged. Because of this, when I connected it and started the Briot, I received the same "low battery" message. So I went through the same routine of pressing up and 3 and the unit started up. Now I'm gonna leave the entire unit powered on for a few days and see if the new battery recharges. Finger crossed.

    i have the same problem.
i saw a battery on the motherboard with specs: 2.4V 300 mah.
i am not sure if this is the origional battery.
i didnt find information about it in the setup manual.

can someone tell me if this is the batery that he has?
or if someone know if this is the origional spec?

i heared fro one technitian that you should replace the battery while the machine is ON. if not all setup memory will be lost.

    is it true?
