May i wish you both well in the race...
As there are a few brits and we DO have to stick together DONT we, I will canvas for your votes on their behalf...
Of course we expect a little speach from both parties on what they are standing for
    May the best person win...

    Crier Billy-no-mates

my hubby has just offered to become a member of optiboard . That's OK in principal; does he want to chat in the lively discussion forum:D ...No; does he want to become world champion at tetris...No; does he want to wow you with his knowledge of all things arsenal and agricultural...No.

The plain fact is that he loves me and can't bear to see me cry myself to sleep for another night. Pleeeeeeeease let me have ONE vote!;)

All sympathy votes are very welcome.

    Sarah,

You know, you can vote for yourself ... or ... is this just a ploy to get all of the votes?

as I haven't voted yet (and frankly wasn't going to, or even timly) I think it only fair that I now vote for you. It's sort of giving you your vote back, but not quite.

I won't be making any hustings speaches or providing a resume.

I would suggest if we want a Brit to win we should all vote for Sarah, she can then do her "I'm not Gwyneth Paltrow" impression at the acceptance ceromony and impress us all with her Brit stiff upper lippishness, self deprecating humour and all round good eggishness. (I'm no good at any of those!).

    SO vote for Sarah!!!!!:D

Oh what a tangled web we weave :-).. I pictured this, you guys passing "coded" E-M's back and forth sitting up your clandestine meeting.. "meet in front of the FT28 6/250's in John's stock room at 12:30 am" ... you three standing with your plans splayed before you on top of the last crate of FT's that came in with "pin" lights shining down upon your plans to conquer the world (well..snag member of the year) once done you leave at different intervals (so as not to cause suspicion) ... You came up with plan to make it sound like you sacrificed your vote for the benefit of all, and going to the compassionate vote.. No wonder James Bond makes such a great spy you Brits are slick at manipulation!! :-) Tipping my hat to ya..

Really, just poking my nose into your section to see what's shaking..and to give you a little "poke" in the ribs.. and to make this more fun...
PLUS I think I'm making it over to your neck of the woods John in April or so of next year, my wife's family is from your way and we are coming to visit everyone, of course I'll be bored by the second day and being the die hard lab rat, what would a vacation be if I didn't get a chance to see how you guys run a lab compared to us :-).. shoot, see some stuff and make a written record I can actually write off the trip on my taxes!! :-)
Might even go over to tour the Zeiss places as well, was invited, been practicing my German... :-)
Where is everyone at in relation to London? That's where I'll be at... I'll start planning on how I can get "away" from all the hoopla of the family stuff by using the excuse of "well got to check out some business stuff" .. almost everyone will be more interested in my one year old daughter anyway... how is anyone going to compare to a cute toddler :-) ...

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.
