    fogging up mystery

After more than 40 years in the optical business I may have met my match. I have a patient who has a mild hyperope rx that is fogging up right in the center of her lenses. She is wearing a poly progressive style. Her lens is the instinctive by zeiss I have replaced the lenses thinking it was the lenses, and moved the frame away from her eyes and now she's using antifog which is not really working to well., but they are still fogging up. I am baffled, has anyone ever seen this and what did you do to correct it. Thanks

When is it fogging up? Coming inside? Going outside? Pretty much everyone's lenses will fog up going from a cold environment to a warm one.

Is it fogging up on the front or back?
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

+1 Since she is using an Anti-Fog conditioner can we safely surmise that her lenses are not AR, if that is the case I would suggest an AR application to her lenses.

Then have her use a top notch AntiFog Product that is not a lens cleaner with additives but the real thing as our ZeroFog which you can all see about it, at ----------> http://optochemicals.com/zerofog.htm

Using that product and applied properly and re-applied when needed, will guarantee no more fogging up under any conditions.

does she have really clear tear ducts or tubes that is causing warm air form her sinuses coming out and fogging up the lens. Just a really big stab in the dark. Thinking outside of the box.

That's a great stab. Optiboard gold. This client needs to see and ophthalmologist and/or otolaryngologist asap.

Is this an ongoing issue or a recent development. How about a thermo imaging analysis, like Eyemandan is suggesting your patient may have a condition which is producing some condensation. This may sound odd but aren't we all, is she a mouth breather.

If she tries on another pair of glasses does the same thing happen?
