    v2702 and VSP Custom measurements

We are doing N category lenses and our biller wants to know about the 2702 code...

Are you charging for it? ( the pt? )
Do you bill it (it generates the code on VSP asking for the fee charged...)
Do we get reimbursed from VSP on it?

No you don't get reimbursed I don't think. The Patient pays you 10 dollars, VSP takes 2 dollars of that.

Sometimes I charge for it, sometimes I forget to do charge. 80% of all lenses I do are with .5mm of 5degree wrap. 9-10degree panto and 12-13mm vertex anyway, so I don't charge for it if I don't need them. I usually do the measurements anyway to check this though.

In general I try to approach all coatings and Lenses, after talking to the patient/client about their needs and reviewing their RX, finances etc. I say, X is the best lens package for you, and I combine any measurement charges, material copays, Backside "UV" charges etc into a charge. If they question this I break it down, if not I just tell them what their charge is.

For me it works, but I am well spoken and confident. If I was less confident or newer in the field I could see how I may be more hesitant.

For goodness sake, get every penny you can!!!!! Bill and Charge it!!!!! Yes the payout may only be $8, but do that 50 times a month 12 months of the year folks! You do the math. Can't complain about VSP not paying enough if you don't bill enough.

I'll get off my hi horse now.
