My favorite movie - Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

    Stagecoach -- John Wayne
The Man who Shot Liberty Valance -- Also John Wayne, but not in a headliner role, which was Jimmy Stewart.
The original Gojira (Godzilla) -- NOT the one with Raymond Burr (which was a badly recut and edited version of the original, and called "Godzilla, King of the Monsters")

Netflix is streaming Sunset Boulevard, a must see if you're new to late 40's early 50's film noir.

I like movies that can invoke emotions. Birth Of a Nation was that kind of film.

Dr. Strangelove (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb)

"Gentlemen, you can't fight here, this is the war room!"

The original sci-fi movie: Metropolis (although I also hear that some Star Wars thing from the '70's was pretty good)

Most early Mel Brooks, especially Young Frankenstien, Blazing Saddles, and History of the World pt. 1 (excellent performance by Bea Arthur)

Pretty much anything by Akira Kurosawa, although admittedly some are better than others.

The version of Draclua with Peter Cushing in it.

Henry V with Kenneth Branagh, because the St. Crispin's Day speech is beyond words to describe.

The early Russian cinema is par excellence:

    Alexander Nevsky
    Battleship Potemkin

    Lighter fare:

    Mister Roberts
    Operation Petticoat
    Father Goose

    Victory At Sea (26 episodes)

The Man in the White Suit

    From Television in the heyday:

The original Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan 18 episodes

The Prisoner was AWESOME (and REALLY weird).

I also forgot Logan's Run for movies (the tv spin off was meh).

Two of my faves: Gaslight (1944) with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer and The Heiress (1949) with Olivia de Havilland and Montgomery Clift. Soooo good!

The original King Kong I'd take him in a MMA fight over Godzilla and he likes the ladies
The Bride of Frankenstein What's there not to like about a reanimated vixen
The Philadelphia Story Grant, Hepburn, and Stewart funny movie
Maltese Falcon Bogart and a D Hammett story line and you get Wilmer
The Big Sleep Bogart as Phillip Marlow the remake with Bob Mitchum isn't bad but no Lauren Bacall
Seven Samurai Toshiro Mifune is truly amazing
The Good The Bad and The Ugly Blondie, Angel Eyes and Tuco, come on man
