How to submit claims to VSP out of network.

How are you submitting claims to VSP out of network? Via fax or hard copy by mail? Do you know if VSP will accept fax cm1500?

We send in a hard-copy ... takes about 4 to 5 weeks and rarely have any problems.

    $0.02

Does this mean that VSP will no longer accept fax submission?

I cannot tell if you are putting your two cents in or if that is the payment you get from VSP.

Colleen26 ... We've never faxed a claim to VSP in the time I've been with this office. Office Ally through MVE will print and mail your VSP (and other paper claims) for about the price of postage, FYI.

I called VSP and was told that you can submit via fax. Much quicker turnaround time

How to submit claims to VSP out of network.

    1. Collect your fees up front.

    2. Give the patient an out of network claim form.

    3. Help next patient.

I will continue to fax in CM1500, and mail in hard copy as well. Faxing in the claim form was faster, we received payment in 1 week.

May I ask how are you are getting paid directly out of network?

Not true at all Ange. The vast majority of my patient base have some sort of vision plan, many with VSP. We take no insurance and thrive, so much so that I'll be opening a 3rd location in a mater of months. And no, we are not a discounter in any sense of the word other than we don't have to artificially inflate our pricing due to accepting insurance.

I have been giving this a lot of thought myself.. along with promotions (maybe even a Warbyesque Expose) on the truth about vision plans. Outline how in the current market the only one making money is the insurance companies who are driving up the price of the eyewear and then charging the providers for the pleasure... Wouldn't need to mark things up nearly as high if you aren't going to have to take at least a 40% discount off the top..
