Question Need advice for a high add patient

I have a patient that requires a +60.00 add in one eye. She is currently wearing something that a lab made up for her special...years ago. They took two seperate Uni-cat lenses (discontinued) with a +30.00 add each and glued them back to back. They were then edged into an existing lens and mounted in the frame. It isn't pretty, but it's helped this patient see for the past five years. Do any of you have any suggestions for possible alternatives? Any special lenses I could order? I thank you in advance.

Have you considered Designs for Vision? They have reading microscopes up to 80D that can be incorporated into glasses . Of course, these are full diameter scopes. The bifocal microscope up to 40D fits like a bifocal and the other 20D may be able to be incorporated into the scope. You will have to check with DVI for power ranges.

    Just an idea. Good luck.

A lens company called Bristol used to have up to a 50 add RD 22) I don't know if they still carry the crazy stuff ..might want to check there...
I'm not at the office but if no one posts a # for them I'll look it up and post it, might be a few others I'll have to poke around when I get back in..

Aire-O-Lite makes a 22mm round seg in cr-39 with adds up to +30.00D. Check the Cataract section of the Lenses book from Frames Magazine.

Put her in a hard lenticular contact lens, it's the best thing you can do for her.
