Am I The Only One That Has Heard About This?
I recently had a representative from one of the labs in our area inform us that there seems to be talks of VSP possibly acquiring Safilo. I've tried to dig around and haven't found anything to either confirm or deny this. I was wondering if anyone heard this or if I should just file this as another rumor that gets started in our business but never actually happens.
I have not heard this. They already have Marchon.

I haven't heard anything about this... please confirm! We do a lot of safilo.
Maybe now more than ever you may wish to investigate smaller less known frame lines. I never understood the concept of carrying the same frames as everyone else. There are new independent frame lines to be had my optical friends.. :)

So far none of our reps from Safilo are saying anything.
We had a meeting with VSP/Marchon a couple of weeks ago and they were asked if they were picking up any new lines. The lady informed us that they were picking up two new lines to carry but was unable (or unwilling) to tell us which lines they were.
It doesn't seem likely... but what is certain is that rumors will fly when a company is in trouble. Safilo has been around for a long time... but who knows?
Rumors fly even when a company is soaring... gotta love our industry. :)
I have not heard this, the next thing will be VSP buying FEZZ-JOHNS, what a tragedy that would be!
