    Wrote my own.

We have so many different generations of equipment in my lab that there's no way it would ever be able to talk to the computer.

Pro: I can tweak it any time I want. I don't pay maintenance fees. I don't have to pay to upgrade to get new bells and whistles. I own the source code.

Con: As noted with the about equipment issues, everything is manual entry on the machines.

Thanks for the info. Do you surface all materials or just glass?

Both, but depends on the material and the Rx. Some can only be heat treated, some can only be chemed.

We use CC and it's ok, but I have some issues with it:Fixed window sizes that don't drag across the screen. You have to caterpillar the window across the screen to get it where you want. (Minor)Printing various reports or cross referencing info is non-existent or costs a bunch of $ to get it.It takes 20+ keystrokes to enter 1 breakage. When browsing the reports you are allowed, you have to use the arrows and pg up/pg dn key. Again, you can't see all the info at once either. You can't do departmentalized reports. It's all or nothing.I can't think of any more right now. I guess the main thing is the DOS like interface. I know it's Linux, but it's not really quick to get around in.

There is only 3 independent main line LMS (lab management systems) left in the US (DVI, Optivision and CC Systems that Steve Dombey mentioned above), and there is one guy in the Netherlands who will write you one, and OptoTech and Rodenstock in Germany both offer one.

If your doing edging only, CC Systems distributes Gerber's old Innovations. For surfacing you will need something more robust.

DVI, CC Systems and Optivision are very expensive, both in initial cost and maintenance fees. All have terrible service if you are comparing anything from the real IT industry. PM me for details.

I can speak to my extensive experience with DVI: It has been extremely positive and their service is incredible. I believe the value of the product, service and support DVI provides is outstanding. No need to PM me for details. Instead, give me a call to discuss: 920-469-2559

Just to add one main player here in Europe - Lensware. Not cheap, great service, maintenance fees, in Europe the most spreaded one.
