Belt replacement source for hand edger

    Morning Optiboard,

I have an archaic hand edger in which the belt finally broke after what I would assume is 300 years of service.

I'm not sure what model or brand the edger is, so I included a photo of it. The broken belt is shown in the photo.

Does anybody have a lead on where I can get a replacement belt? I've seen vacuum cleaners with a similar belt but they are not rugged enough.

Thanks in advance, have a great Thursday

    Best,
    Bill

Also, it should be noted I mean hand edger and not polisher as I so foolishly wrote in the thread topic.

I know Bondeye Optical here in the UK do that edger ( http://www.bondeyeoptical.co.uk/prod...hines-141.aspx ) and you can see a replacement belt on there toward the middle (have gotten them, tried and tested), however I know thats not a "local" option, maybe give them a call/email and see if they can point you in the right direction?

Not a big deal. Take the broken drive belt to your local industrial supply house.

Grainger is excellent source for lab parts.

I have them on speed dial. Between Grainger ( www.grainger.com ) and McMasters Carr ( www.mcmaster.com/ ) and Thomas Register ( www.thomasnet.com ) you can find parts and supplies to build or repair anything.

You'll have better luck if you call it by the recognized part name miniature extra light belt MXL for short, they're going to differ in their pitch (tooth distance) you can measure with a caliper or hit the Grainger with your belt. Another option would be to replace your timing pulleys as well to match your new belt.

I ended up just ordering a new machine on ebay for around $279. Been using it everyday and it works great. It's chinese made, but it's been working well.

I found a place (can't remember where) that you could order the belt, but you had to order a minimum 15 pieces.
