Informal Reach-Out: Williamson County, Central Texas (Just North of Austin)

New optical in a reputed hospital system is off to a great start (if I do say so myself!) Will be adding staff in the near future. No posting yet, but I'd very much like to get to know the talent in my area a little better.

Our working intention is to pick up a PT assistant to myself (perhaps entry level) to bridge us into the phase where two opticians are optimally productive.

However, what's more important to me is finding the right pick--and I will campaign to bring on an experienced optician/optical tech if I meet the candidate with whom I want to work every day for the next several years.

Any dialogue here won't disadvantage applicants who didn't find me on the boards first. At most, my finding desireable candidates (by whatever means) may accelerate the timing of an official job posting.

Nice corporate benefits and (all things considered) agile managment. Superb patient care culture. Gratifying to be practicing patient-focussed optical care rather than "rah-rah" sales. (Having said that, we move good products here for the purpose of people being happy with their purchase and low-maintenance aftersale care. We're not chasing all ends of the market, so we don't move "L" and "K" progressives if you know what I mean.) Supportive Ophthalmology doctors and staff. Best of all worlds.

(Working with me is another subject entirely, but if you think you can live with a red-headed Ben Kenobi a few hours every weekday, drop me a PM and let's talk shop.)

    Looking for:

Someone who knows Language is the most important tool in optics, and uses it like a Professional.

Somene who enjoys and excels at their own personal golf game of preventing remakes and refunds.

Someone who Loves learning, and understands the humility required to accomodate an enormous diet of it.

Someone of the character to keep that humility and keep learning even after they've learned enough to feel like a "bad-***."

Someone who will work for my professional name as hard as for their own. (You'll have the same devotion from me.)

Someone who is ok with mild Jazz music....Every Day for so long that you don't like it any more even if you did at the beginning. (I'm really more a blues guy, but I believe in a tight and targeted leash on shopping music.)

Somone who will see their own professional future tied to the optical and its brand.

...and even if we don't wind up coworkers, who couldn't use a colleague with whom to knock back a couple of drinks on occasion? ;)
