Gray Coated lenses for MS Patient?

Is anyone aware of a gray coated lenses to help MS Patient with optic nerve damage/glare? She read about it in a MS Support magazine. The lenses are supposed to cut glare. I asked her to bring the article. I am thinking that she is talking about Polarized lenses. Anyone dealt with this before?
    Thanks

I did a quick Google study, it looks like MS commonly causes Optic Neuritis (temporary blindness/blind spots) and some of the lasting side effects of ON can be a sensitivity to light. Tinted lenses are used to limit the sensitivity and ease the stress on the eyes. It doesn't look like there is a specific color of tint required, though anti-glare is recommended to reduce halos at night. Polarized lenses may be good to restrict the light entering her eye while still allowing for a more natural color, though it looks like regular tinting is more commonly used.

    Here's a research paper I found:

And here are two forum references I found where tinted lenses are mentioned as a treatment:

One of the major signs of optic neuritis is a loss of color vision. Would a tint exacerbate that problem?

I have used a Grey #A polarized for this reason before. Partnered it with an AR with great results. Regular tinting is probably used more due to the limited availability of the lighter polarized lenses, and cost.

Since the optic nerve is the one that being attacked in an MS patients. The glasses that should be use have nothing to do with the color. Any color will do either black, or brown, or gray as long as the optic damage has been prevented. However, a patient who has multiple sclerosis may also lead to loss of vision if not manage properly.
