Is College of Opticians of Ontario in Default in their legal defense on defamation

When the college brought a motion to dismiss most of the statement of claim against it, the judge ordered the plaintiffs to makes some minor changes and to file a revised claim within 7 days. He then ordered the College to file a defense within 30 days after that. He also told the college to stop delaying and get on with it. The plaintiffs filed within 7 days as ordered but the college did not meet the timeline. The defendants filed with the court an objection stating that the college is in default.

Will be interesting to see what the judge does now.

I do not see how we can draw any conclusions from this. Just legal wrangling and more income for the lawyers. A quick decision is not in their best interest. I know of a few people that after a divorce the lawyer came away with the lion's share of the proceeds.

Yes I meant the plaintiffs as the college ignored the judges orders.

The conclusion to be drawn from this is that the College either does not take this legal action against itself seriously and they are stupid enough to fail to comply with the orders from a judge. When a judge says I want your defense filed in 30 days and stop stalling, you take it seriously. I have not doubt the judge will not be pleased with the college and it is not in their best interest to flaunt a court order. It is downright stupid.
