Whatever you decide, keep in mind the narrowed reading area that will be associated with a +3.25 in progressives. A switch to FT should be considered if reading is the patients primary concern.

I could not find the doc on the LifeStyle 2 as sold in USA, but found something for LifeStyle V+ sold in Australia (which may be the same):
    Code:
Lens name Material Sphere Cyl add Abbe no.
    Hoyalux iD LifeStyle V+ Harmony 1.60 -10.00 to +8.00 -4.00 +0.75 to +3.50 41

Best answer right here, or a separate pair of readers.

A 1.60 refractive index Varilux Comfort should be on the table.

I just ran those numbers on my DAC generator. Easy to freeform a progressive with up to 4 base in and as big as a 54 eyesize. I wouldn't do it though....I would do a freeform round seg...twice as wide reading area....

There are several comparable free form lenses that are available in those powers. Here is a link to a list of free form lenses and what parameters they are available in as of June 2013. Hope this helps!

More like five to ten times wider, depending on how you define the near zone width on the PAL, and on the round seg width.

This is one of many possible approaches; Keep the PAL for general purpose use, possibly cutting the add power, and supplement with segmented multifocals for extended periods of close tasks.
