    Coburn R16 Grinding Wheel

We have an old (very old) Coburn R16 ceramic grinding wheel, and I'm trying to find somewhere that has a device to re-true it. It's been a workhorse so far, so I'd like to give it a little love.

I've already found somewhere that can re-true it for me, just trying to see if there's an option to do it myself.

Ceramic wheel, I assume. What we've done in the past was to use an old almost worn out glass diamond roughing wheel laid on its side on the "table" of the machine framework. Start the wheel with plenty of water and push the diamond hard into the ceramic. Move from side to side to prevent gouging.

There used to be a device that clamped onto the table with a narrow flat faced coarse diamond bar, but I haven't seen one of those in years.

Yeah, one of those devices was exactly what I was hoping someone might know where to find.

I attempted a retrue years ago and actually did more damage than good. I had the proper device but found regardless of how slow I ran point across stone I had fine grooves. If you feel it is necessary to retrue I would have a professional do it.
