Thread: Whatever happened to the GaugeMaster, and what are we using to replace it??

    These are my biggest concern of not having my gauge master.
    1. Making sure my 3 pins are aligned. And if they are not, which one(s) is off.
    2. If/when the set screw on my axis drum slips.

    I saw your post above about adjusting/calibrating without a gauge master and that's very helpful. I suppose keeping an old frame around with a large cyl and a known axis will help.

    Not mounted lenses...uncuts.

    The problem with full axis verification is that the frame table comes into play, along with the reticle. All axis is "trued" against a combination of the frame table AND the axis wheel AND the reticle.

    The reason I ask such an odd question is because my corporate "powers that be" have told all the stores that have a gauge master to send them back to corporate headquarters because they are "devising a company wide uniform lensometer calibration procedure" and they are collecting all the gauge masters to "ensure their accuracy and re-calibrate if necessary."
    Probably for recertification, to verify that one of the lenses hasn't turned, shifted, or tilted, however unlikely that is.
