Wave Vintage Lenses: What does AOM mean?

    Hello,

I am looking at a vintage pair of American Optical safety glasses. There is a etching in the lens AOM. Can anyone tell me what the "M" means? Or if AOM means something completely different?

    Thank you!

The stylized AO stands for American Optical (company name), the M looks like it could stand for moisture chamber which would explain the leather side cups. That M is purely a guess.

My guess is the M is for mountain glasses.

I was thinking Medical, Manufacturer or Massachusetts since that is where American Optical is from...

That thought came to as I was submitting the post, great minds and all.

Another possible answer is it is a designator for the tint.

Could it be the designated lab location for the safety aspect of the lens??? As stated before, Massachusetts?
