Is there a software to convert the picture of a demolens to a .OMA file?

I was thinking of taking a picture or scanning a demolens into a jpg, bmp etc file, and then modify it with photoshop for example. What is needed is to transform this picture into a OMA. like the one is obtained from Innovations when a shape is exported.
It would convert a camera or scanner into a tracer.
    Does that software exist?

National Optronics has a tracing program that does that amoung other things. I'm sure other packages exist as well.

If you get a drawing tablet like the WACOM Graphire you can trace a shape with the stylus directly into Innovations.

Will this work for all demo's? Some, I have noticed, fit tight and flatten after removal. Grooved and sun lenses should be OK because they tend to be thicker than demos.

It's still true. I know we have a small number of customer who use it extensively.

Mind you, it was (and is) intended to provide a reasonably accurate shape for surfacing calculations. As far as edging goes, I'd only expect it to work for a subset of rimless mountings - and you'd have to draw carefully.

    Cool.
But It is more fast draw the pattern on the lens and go to hand edge the lens.

You can use inkscape to trace your image as a vector shape, then copy / paste the bezier curve data directly into an existing OMA file. Below is a screenshot of where this data is located when inspecting the XML data.

I actually have a video tutorial on how to do this but it is in German.

Alternatively, the Briot Alta Evolution Tracer / Blocker does exactly what you describe, including robust shape modification directly on the unit.
