    Order of Operations

Curious as to whether you have any guidelines concerning the following scenario: Client comes in to pick up 3 pairs of glasses. One rx dress pair, one rx sun pair and one rx safety pair. Which order do you dispense them in? Do you think it matters?

Usually i will keep the best for last, so in this case the dress pair. So that the last pair are the ones the customer wears when leaving the store. However when it`s sunny outside then ending with the sun pair would be logical as wel. I would only finish with the safety pair in case of a hailstorm or civil unrest. But seriously,i would let the customer decide.

I usually start with fitting the primary pair (whichever they are going to use the most) and then go from there. In this case, I would probably fit the safety pair next and then the sunglasses last. I don't think it matters really in what order they're dispensed, but it's just a personal preference.

I would think it would depend on a number of factors. RX itself, if a new RX, how much change since previous pair, how often they require the safeties and under what conditions. Of course, you could just ask them which order they'd like to pick it up and let them handle the decision.

I work up, same as Dirk. In this case - Sun, Safety, Dress. We make a fuss of out patients, so leaving the dress ones for last allows us to finish on a high.

I think it DOES matter - lest we forget, the collection is the final contact we have with patients 'until the next time'. Making this experience smooth and pleasant assures they'll remember you when the time comes. Every part of the collection process is important, regardless of how small it may seem.

My staff just grabs the first one and away we go. I do not even think my staff has ever given that a thought. We put them all in a case and them wrap them up in a rubber band; first is who gets grabbed.

An elastic band made from the South American Para rubber tree that's woven with gold and inset with jewels. Don't be so modest!

My evaluation of visual performance starts with the Rx dress pair because it probably has the best optics and light transmission.

Robert that is the reason why I would start with the sun first, then the safety next, and have the client leave with the best Rx last. My thinking is this, the suns will have a slight blur due to a larger stop, then the safetys next, they more then likely will be a FT or low cost older PAL, then end with the FF PAL.

We don't have an order per se, but I do tend to end with the dress specs for the reasons mentioned above. I want them to leave loving the pair they wear out the door!

I usually start with suns, especially with the ladies. They are excited to see their glamour girl suns so I dispense those first. They are usually so delighted with them it sets the tone for the rest of the interaction.
