I'm really glad to hear this ordeal wasn't enough to keep you down. Keep up the good work, and I'll be looking forward to the news that you're all done and cancer-free very soon.

    Time for an update.

The chemo regimen knocked the lymphoma down but not out. So more treatment is needed.

It will be two to four rounds of stronger, more intense chemo followed by an autologous stem cell transplant. That entails having your own stem cells removed by apheresis. Several extremely high doses of chemo follow which will hopefully kills all the cancer cells, but also destroys your bone marrow. Then your stem cells are replaced, your bone marrow regenerates and hopefully you are cancer free.

I start the first round of chemo on Monday.

    Hello Fezz!

Sorry for the late reply. I start the process of an autologous stem cell transplant this week. They'll collect my stem cells and store them. Then I'll get a bit of a break. I check into the hospital on December 1st, get a super high dose of chemo over several days, then my stem cells are put back to restore my bone marrow. I'll be in the hospital for most of December.

Thanks to all for the support. I'm going to beat this lymphoma!

My stem cell collection is complete. It only took one day. The nurses said it often takes as many as five days. I get a break now through Thanksgiving and check back in on December 1st for the tough stuff.

Thanks to everyone for the support.

The same message from me, only it was 23 years ago.

Terrible pain, ambulance to Hospital on a Sunday, followed by a 6 hour operation.

Doctor tells me in the morning that he had 2 items to tell me.
    1) operation was successful
    2) I had a perforated upper colon that had leaked all over belly cavity, is cancerous and that I would be dead in 5 to 8 month.

I beat it too, and I am still told that it must have been will power.

Today I undergo my stem cell transplant. It's gone extremely well so far. The preliminary chemo was not as tough as expected.

About two to three weeks of recovery before release.

I'm ready to get this stuff knocked out!
