We currently have a Partner Lab Business Manager career opportunity. This Business Manager position will be responsible for both sales and operations performance of Balester Optical, based in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The lab has a long history of quality work and technology in the market.

The Business Manager is responsible for managing and directing the day to day operations, financial performance, sales performance, and customer relations of a wholesale ophthalmic business. This role includes complete responsibility for Sales/Revenue Growth, Profit & Loss, Budget & Manufacturing Operations Management. This Business Manager will direct activities with 55 employees producing approximately 600 Rx job per day with annual revenue of approx. $11 Million.

• Manage budget and profitability for assigned business with focus on growing revenue and improving operational efficiency.
• Identify and implement optimal structure and core processes for lab manufacturing functions. Continuously improve operations to achieve efficiencies to meet changing customer needs. Coordinate, direct, and manage all aspects of lab operations to ensure production and quality objectives are achieved on a consistent basis.
• Oversee the completion of large scale operation initiatives including purchasing new equipment, facility expansion, and process improvements throughout the laboratory.
• Develop and maintain a broad exposure to, and understanding of, the marketplace and customer base. Lead by example with an obsession for customer service through own actions. Focus team on monitoring changes in the market and customer base and implement effective marketplace responses.
• Provides individual team members with aggressive and clear performance objectives directly tied to the lab & Region strategy. Establishes clear accountability and a sense of urgency for action against key priorities and results. Inspires people to take personal ownership for achieving stretch goals and performance improvement.
• Provides leadership that fosters teamwork, employee respect, empowerment, and open communication. Recommends, implements, and coordinates “best practices” and policies that maximize employee development, training, and performance.
• Prioritizes and invests in the development of the organization and its people. Ensures rewards reflect the value of the employee’s contribution to the business
• Additional responsibilities assigned as required.

• Bachelor’s degree required - Master’s degree (MBA) preferred.
• 5+ years Manufacturing Operations Experience with ability to improve and sustain operational performance.
• Prior experience in the optical industry preferred.
• 5+ years Executive Business Management Experience, with responsibility for full financial performance, minimum prior P&L experience of $2 to 5 million in revenue required.
• Experience leading large scale change initiatives in a dynamic production environment.
• Demonstrated competence in managing large scale projects including process and product flow changes, equipment installation, development of new products, and other large operations projects.
• Experience in managing client relations and having strong customer service orientation required.
