ZEISS PROMOTES CULBRETH TO DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

12 year company veteran takes on new role
CHESTER, Va., October 15, 2002 – Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. today announces the recent promotion of Grady Culbreth to director of business development. In this role, Culbreth will primarily be responsible for sales of Zeiss coating equipment to wholesale and chain laboratories. She will work closely with Zeiss regional sales and territory managers in order to maximize the number of leads and sales the company receives. Prior to her promotion, Culbreth served as the company's director of public and professional relations.

Culbreth received her associate's degree in opticianry from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Richmond, where she also serves on its advisory board. She holds seats on the board of directors for the AR Council and the National Academy of Opticianry and is actively involved in several other industry organizations including the Optical Women's Association (OWA) and the Vision Council of America (VCA). Originally from Baltimore, Md., Culbreth currently resides in Brandermill.
