I have a question about the affect frame type has on AR coating effectiveness.
I recently switched from a metal 1/2 rim frame (old) to a plastic full frame (new). The old set are about 3yrs old, have trivex lenses, and had the high end AR coating at the time applied. My new set also have trivex lenses and a high-end AR coating (Crizal Alize) but get 2-3 times as much reflective distortion at night.
My question is..
What is the most likely cause of the reflective distortion in the new frames?
Is it possible that having a full frame vs a 1/2 frame would cause more distortion?
Is it more likely that the new lenses are just lower quality?
