While this was a solution for a Mac that I was trying to troubleshoot with the same issue, I had to download realplayer in order to get youtube to work.

Don't forget to do a restart........sometimes that is the only way some changes will take place. Also check your video driver for screen resolution(rightclick on desktop to access.
