Thank you all! I must say it was quite a surprise. I had gone to the meeting to pick up some credits and catch up with some old friends. I have not been active in the society while on the board of registration in order that that there be no appearance of conflict of interest. Now that I am off the board it was a perfect opportunity to get back into swing.

I was so rattled I couldn't think of anything to say, which for those of you who know me, is an extremely rare condition. I forgot to thank all those who kept raising the bar of excellence in order to give the rest of us a clear target....but somehow I guess they knew that all along.

I think you all will be happy to know that during the preamble to the presentation, Optiboard was mentioned prominently, along with our URL. By that point in the speech I knew I was its subject so you will have to forgive me for not noting whether or not anyone wrote it down.

This really proves that there are many out there who visit regularly but choose not to post. Specific threads were mentioned, so I know we have a wide audience. I did meet a couple of new members as well which is also proof that we are growing at a healthy rate.

My week was kicked up another notch at yesterday's board meeting,when I received a plaque from my fellow board members, and was given a citation from the Massachusetts legislature for past service.
Needless to say it has been quite a week.
I now have to return to my real job where I sweep the floors and clean the heads!:D

I thank you all for your good wishes and good words. It has, and will continue to mean a lot to me!

There will be little time for rest I fear. I have volunteered , as an invited quest of the board, to help finish up the rules and reg revisions we've been working on for so long. Then there's still the project of implementing a national practical examination between the licensed states which I hope to be able to continue to work on, as well as an Optician's compact between the licensed states which would allow a licensed optician to practice anywhere with his own license under the rules and regulations of the state in which he/she practices.

I am honored by all this attention but it rightfully belongs to the many who have worked for the same things and paved the way for us. Thanks again for the good words.
