There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.

Way back in high school, when I was first getting response letters from colleges I had applied to, I was getting pretty darn anxious. My dad started referring to them as "Schrodinger's letters". Saying that he sealed envelope would have both acceptance and rejection, and the act of opening it directly effected the contents of the letter. Needless to say, this didn't help my anxiety in the slightest.
