    Rodenstock Frame Parts Please

Nearly 10 years ago I bought my dad a pair of drillmount Rodenstocks and apparently he loves them so much and has worn them to pieces. I guess he needs a new nut and bolt from what he has articulated to me over the phone. He went to a local Optician in the Milwaukee area and that Optician told him he would sell him a nut and bolt for 50 bucks!!!!

I think I can do better for dear old dad. I might be able to fix them myself if he mails them down to North Carolina for me but I wanted to know if any Milwaukee-based Opticans would be able to help my dad out. He isn't opposed to paying for the part but even I think 50 bucks is rather silly.

    Anyone got any parts?

    Thanks.

Have him go to 2 other local opticians. If they can fix it for less- say $10-$20 than go for it. Do you recall if this required a post (bolt) for the nut that's soldered to repair properly. Not something you should do if you haven't before and $50 is reasonable.

If it's just a nut and screw than you probably can DIY but the head may not be a match to the original.

Ultimately he needs a new pair as 10 years old is a long life for a frame!

Thanks Fester, I know it's a tall order on a ten year old frame. My folks put depression-era folks to shame when it comes to holding on to stuff. They are my absolute worst patients. :)

I think that I have some.

The problem is, I can't check until Monday because I am out of town.

Thanks Fezz, PM with a charge and I can send you payment in advance.

I'm seeing my folks briefly tomorrow when I fly up to Chicago for the weekend. They are driving down for the day to pick me up from O'Hare (that's love!). I'll try to collect the frame from my Dad, see what it needs, and let you know.

I have some parts too. It's probably the octagon headed ones made just for Rodenstock waay back when. I can likely hook you up if Fezz doesn't have it. I think I have some gold ones, maybe some silver.
