"What's for dinner Mommy?" "In Vitro Meat!"

Link: The World's First Cruelty-Free (In Vitro) Hamburger

Does anyone remember the short-lived but very funny TV show, 'Better Off Ted'? In it, the company scientists develop lab-grown meat.

Now life is imitating art and there are serious efforts to create lab-grown meat. The potential advantages to the climate, health and economy are enormous. However this all depends on whether or not people would eat meat that was grown in a lab.

How about you? Would you try it?

Any vegetarians have a comment on how this would affect their thinking on eating meat? I can see where some would still feel that meat is just not good for you but it does render "not eating anything that has a face" moot.

Made a couple of lobster rolls last night.

The poor lobstermen around hehah are just breaking even with the prices so cheap.

    I bought 2 at $3.99 a pound!

I suppose it is inevitable. It might even be better than the antibiotic pumped meat we eat now.

As long as it is not made of Soylent Green.

I grew up vegetarian but no longer practice it. I was more healthy then I am now.
But first of all if you want to get a true opinion of a food. You have to get people to try it for the taste texture and appearance of it.
Do not give it a description like "meat". That plants a negative connotation in a vegetarians mind thus you cant get a truthful opinion of the product.
But really now, lab grown meat? How the hell else could you describe it?

We can put a man on the moon, but we can't grow a boneless chicken.
