I love that picture.

My absolute favorite from the Cassini mission. There's old tv footage of Carl Sagan first presenting the picture to reporters who all ooohed and aaahhed. And then he pointed out the tiny blue speck that is us.
There are rules. Knowing those are easy. There are exceptions to the rules. Knowing those are easy. Knowing when to use them is slightly less easy. There are exceptions to the exceptions. Knowing those is a little more tricky, and know when to use those is even more so. Our industry is FULL of all of the above.
Did you hear about the new Cosmos mini-series with Neil deGrasse Tyson? I'm really looking forward to that.

YES!
Although, while I love Dr. Tyson (he is absolutely awesome), I'm going to have a touch of sadness to see Cosmos without Carl Sagan.... Not only did he have a great passion for his work, but he took an almost child like glee and enjoyment in it, in learning and discovering new things, and most importantly, in sharing it all with everyone. He wanted astronomy and cosmology to be easily accessible by everyone, not just scientists.
I think its safe to say, that without him, we wouldn't have shows like "How the Universe Works" and "Through the Wormhole"

Yup, fascinating picture. Who'd think there is so much going on on that little blue speck?
Impressive
