Frames for Narrow PD (60 and below) and PAL

The Simple Question: I'm interested in knowing what frame lines have a good selection patients with PDs under 60, particularly for women. What ones do you recommend?

Now the story: I have had a good number of women lately with 58 PDs whom I have had difficulty fitting with frames that will accommodate a progressive without using a short corridor. Once upon a time, Menizzi had a very adequate selection, but lately their styles have been getting wilder, which while cool and interesting, require the right face to fit. It's getting like the way it used to be with men's pants: the bigger the waistband, the louder the pattern. Nothing like making someone who already feels bad going to shop for a basic need feel comfortable than only offering choices that draw more attention to his non-standard measurements. Narrow PD frames are tending that way, too: want frames that fit right without a ton of decentration? How about wearing something that draws more attention to you and takes over your face? No? How about a kid's frame? Not big enough to fit your progressive? Ooooh, sorry...

So help me with my frustration.

I'm looking for: simple, contemporary, variety of color and shapes WITHOUT having features that look GREAT on a model in a magazine but are a bit too loud for people who actually wear them, full frame and semi-rimless, metal, zyl, or other, women's, primarily but men's, too. Let me know what you've found!

Try Bevel. A little pricier, but designed for the narrow pd and fit great on the petite face. Titanium, nice colors, good finish, good depth for prog's. A few are a little larger to add to your selection. If you edge you'll like them as well.

Oh, ProDesign, is there anything you can't do with tasteful Danish design? Thanks for the replies so far. I'm geeking out looking at all the frames now. Who's got more? I'm greedy, haha.

The women's Lightec line from Morel has a bunch that fit this bill. They are pretty clean designs but a little tech-edgy.

Viva's Rampage has some good stuff for someone with a narrower PD who is looking for something deep enough for a PAL but still modern. For the older ladies some Joan Collins frames do pretty well.

A little late to reply, however, Menizzi has petite frames as well as a wide/x-large collection, Biggu.
I also find trendy/updated styles in the last few years from NY Eye's Seventeen and Enhance collection, which features smaller sizes (example Enhance 3903 measures 49/16/135).

You should look at MODO. They have really cute frames for women that are both conservative as well as fun and funky. Cool colors and have a large selection of petite frames. The rep is awesome and has been in the industry 20+ years. Cost effective and great quality frames.

I can attest to bevel because I have a huge head and none of these frames are fitting me and I desperately want one because they are a huge line at my new office. Also try Kate spade, masunaga, or clear visions fashion lines.

I second Prodesign Denmark and Jones New York Petites. They are my go-tos for petite women.

Not to mention trifocals. The goal is to have a minimum of about 18mm to 19mm from the fitting point to the bottom of the frame at the near point (not the boxed measurement). Tough to find small eye sizes that have that kind of depth (B> 32mm) in a high forties to low fifties eye size that aren't too round or overly trendy. Here are a few I that I display:

Lightec 7309- 53x31 dbl 13 lightweight, metal, good for narrow bridges.
    Lightec 7207- 51x33 dbl 15 lightweight, plastic.
Lightec 7317- 52x37 dbl 15 lightweight, plastic, very deep vertically, can easily accommodate a low set trifocal.
Prodesign 5319 50x33 dbl 17 lightweight, metal, can handle wide bridges and trifocals.

    Bryan,

    Welcome to Optiboard.

Where are you? It sounds like we share a similar client demographic.

    Best regards,

    Robert

Kate Spade, I stock most of my Kate spade frames in the small sized. Literally fly through them
