The Simple Question: I'm interested in knowing what frame lines have a good selection patients with PDs under 60, particularly for women. What ones do you recommend?
Now the story: I have had a good number of women lately with 58 PDs whom I have had difficulty fitting with frames that will accommodate a progressive without using a short corridor. Once upon a time, Menizzi had a very adequate selection, but lately their styles have been getting wilder, which while cool and interesting, require the right face to fit. It's getting like the way it used to be with men's pants: the bigger the waistband, the louder the pattern. Nothing like making someone who already feels bad going to shop for a basic need feel comfortable than only offering choices that draw more attention to his non-standard measurements. Narrow PD frames are tending that way, too: want frames that fit right without a ton of decentration? How about wearing something that draws more attention to you and takes over your face? No? How about a kid's frame? Not big enough to fit your progressive? Ooooh, sorry...
So help me with my frustration.
I'm looking for: simple, contemporary, variety of color and shapes WITHOUT having features that look GREAT on a model in a magazine but are a bit too loud for people who actually wear them, full frame and semi-rimless, metal, zyl, or other, women's, primarily but men's, too. Let me know what you've found!
