    Blocking pads

I normally use the 3M 1712NR pads for everything and most of what I edge are hydrophic a/r's. I've been happy with these and have not had slipping issues. Rarely have I needed to use the anti-slip discs.

I'm thinking of trying the Pro-Edge pads from Dynamic Lab for the significant savings. Has anybody used these? Is it worth it or should I stick with my 3M 1712NR's?

    Thanks for the opinions.

    -Nick

I use the red ones from optisource and have been happy with them.

I tested them back to back with secure edge plus and seem just as good. They even have two different adhesives like the PLUS.

I love the Pro-Edge pads, I've been using them about a year now. They are nice and thin, resist twisting very well and deblock without residue. They actually deblock very easily, almost too easily, so be careful about handling the blocked lens, but they resist twisting like crazy.

I have used every pad in this thread. I mostly use the 3M LSE pads these days, on cheap sv I sometimes use the pro-edges. Pro edge was what we used for a couple years before I switched to 3M. Pro-edge are fine pads, though they do come off a lil too easy sometimes if your edger isn't cutting out perfect the first time every time this can be a problem.

Make SURE to take the pro-edge pads off the blocks asap after deblocking. If you let them get all dry they leave some kind of residue on the block (or eat through the plastic, I'm not sure which). Its impossible to get off the blocks and leaves a rough edge to their contact points. It probably doesn't do anything but it can't be good.
