    That kids got Moxie!!

This past Saturday The Fam and I attended the Moxie Festival in Lisbon, Maine. During this festival, my 16 year old son participated in the Moxie Chugging Competition. 2 minutes to chug as many cans of Moxie Soda as possible. He came in 2nd place with 7 cans chugged. Needless to say, he is still in the fits of a Moxie hangover, and I am one proud Papa! I'm already looking forward to next year!!

My mom grew up in Arlington Ma. and the inventor of Moxie lived nearby. He would invite the kids to free soda's on occasion and during the depression this was a big treat even though she and the other kids never liked the taste!

Or at least that's the story I grew up with.

I've got a customer that summers in Rhode Island and last year brought me 6 12 packs of Moxie and a case of white birch beer. Still have about 6 cans of the Moxie left. He said he will be bringing more in August.

Mizikal, there is an online store that sells it...unfortunately shipping costs are a bear. I don't remember the name of the store, but google retro candy and try some of the places.

This makes me laugh because my first thought was, you're training him well for beer chugging contests when he's in college. But then to my chagrin, I realized that my 9 year old daughter was practicing her beer pong skills one morning with empty cups from the night before at my camper.

By the way, she got 35 balls in in about 5 minutes. I was pretty impressed. Here's to kids with talents!!

Yeah- I had that parental moment of pause just before I taught him how to Shotgun the cans. Visions of him on the roof of a frat house with someones undies on his head, then jumping into a kiddie pool, ran through my head. On a positive note, he did get to use his brand new Leatherman that I got him for his birthday!!

And speaking of talents, my younger son who turned 13 this summer, competed in his first charity 5k this past weekend, and came in first in his age group!! One son is a Moxie chugging football player, the other is a 5k running 5 dollar footlong subway lover! A dad could do a whole lot worse!

As long as the pool has a deep end, I see no problem with this.
