Hate to say it, but I don't think it will fly here in the U.S. Weco, Briot and I think Huvitz all have something similar for less $$$. Ndek makes some nice euipment, but I don't think that will help sell very many of these.
Chains will buy it! Santinelli was loosing lots of business by not having a cheap basic machine!
Don't forget they are not paying MSRP!
Jacqui I am with you but Santinelli really thinks this is going to change the game for them, projecting something like 110% increase in sales over like 5 years. I just don't see it. I don't see how releasing this machine for $10,000 less will help them. I think they should lower the price of the current line up and more people would be coming back to them. In a Vision Care Product article a month or so ago it said its a buyers market now. There is a lot out there for cheaper! I love Santinelli I used them all my optical life but if I can get a Huvitz Exxpert for $50,000 and Save $23,000 over Santinelli and get a 3 year warranty parts and labor honestly I would go that route.
Lenny I am with you I think you're right but I think that Lenscrafters just bought their next lot of machines so I don't see them buying in the next 5-10 years and walmart doesnt edge anymore so I think only people like Pearle Visions but I only sold like maybe 1 or 2 a year to them in my old territory. As far as MSRP. Santinelli charges the customer $3000-$5000 over MSRP right off the bat anyways.
Was offered a similar Weco for $27,000 and a Briot for $23,500. Briot and Weco both have built in tracers.
The difference in a tracer model Santinelli and a no tracer model is usually about $3000. Thats how they are going to be able to cheapen it. I think the tracer to add might be $2000-$3000 but the picture of the tracer attached kinda looks cheap (quality)
Jacqui, I have a rep tossing me the eMotion at the same price as the LE-700. Or I can move up to the LE-1000 with an Ice-mini for about $10K more..We do about 100 retail jobs per month. What would you do?
I just ordered the 700. Set up next week. Haven't been happy with the quirkiness of my briot or the discontinuation of briot repair parts.
This 700 has both the tracer and in chassis blocker with a small footprint which should be good for my 100 jobs per month.
Santinelli and Marco are Nidek. I've nothing but praise for the quality of my Marco and Nidek equipment
