Santinell / Nideki Tracer Calibration Video

Good Morning Optical World! I just wanted to share with the people that have Santinelli Edgers how to calibrate your tracer. I know this video isn't meant for most of you but you'd be surprised how many calls I use to get as a Santinelli rep asking me and complaining about size issues.

For those that don't know, you should really calibrate your tracer once a week to keep the sizing correct. I always recommended on Monday morning do it and you should be good for the week. The little black stylist measures in 100ths of MM and even a tenth of will drastically change your lens size, so now your jobs are taking longer because your having to re touch more often. Also keeping your tracer calibrated will help with shape and shape axis. I hope it help's for those in need.

I also have daily, weekly and monthly maintenance sheets to help you maintain your edger to keep it running at the top of its game!! Feel free to email me at Info@theFinishingLab.com

Thanks for the video, but the real issue is that the tracer is not accurate no matter how you calibrate it. We just got the LT-980 and the C size is almost 2mm difference between the new and old Nidek tracer!

Try a new tracer and see how accutate it is and no weekly calibration.

Hey Craig what do you have your tracer plugged into, Besides the wall. Is it in a surge protector? the same outlet the microwave or the frame warmer is on? Try getting a Battery Back-up style surge protector and see if that helps.

Do you know that the 980 is the latest tracer from them and I am the first retailer to have one? My equipment has direct circuits for the edger and tracer plus a surge protector on the tracers/blocker.
No need to calibrate anymore with the new equipment.

Only once a week? I'll check and calibrate every 5-10 sets; so once or twice a day. This keeps the tracer within .05 or less. Otherwise, it will be out of calibration. I couldn't imagine going a whole week. It doesn't take very long at all and I rarely have size or axis issues (and when I do, it is most likely my fault!) I know that certain frames have issues and can plan accordingly, but the edger is incredibly consistent as long as I keep calibrating. This isn't a problem for me as it has always been this way and hasn't degraded. So far so good!

You Definitely can't calibrate TO much.. Nick I think if you did it once a week you wouldn't see it outside of .05 much but I do have some old customers that do it everyday. Nothing wrong with that! ;)

I calibrated my T4 every day and rarely had a sizing issue.

    Running a Nidek ME-1000 with the ICE-1000 blocker/tracer.
we were told by Nidek to calibrate every time the machine is turned on. It only takes a minute, so better safe than sorry I guess!

How about a video showing how to re-align the feeler/stylus?
Our service rep made mention of the fact that they sometimes cause trouble, and start to frequently slip out of the eyewire of frames, and need an adjustment. He also stated that he could instruct me to do it over the phone, so it sounds simple enough.
4+ years and no trouble with ours, but I'd still like to see a video of it.
