Harry Jilson at 72................................

SANDWICH- Harry Caswell Jilson, 72, of Sandwich, died on Feb. 23, 2013 at his home peacefully with his family by his side. He leaves his beloved wife, Susan R. Jilson, of 37 years, his son Lt. Col Erik W. Jilson USMC, daughter Thora E. Jilson and five beautiful grandchildren, Devyn, Tristan, Ayden, Ava and Kai. He is also survived by his 4 siblings, Patty, Karen, Kurt and Keith, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

We will all miss the "Cape Codger." I always enjoyed his posts... even when we butted heads over licensing etc. Harry loved the profession, and he served it well.

I just don't know what to say. Don't think I can say much. I did get the opportunity to meet Harry. He was every bit the gentleman. He will be missed.

Steve your post about Harry was perfect.

Harry was as genuine as a person could be. I looked forward to coffee breaks and or lunches at VEE in the basement of the Javits with him. The last couple years when he did not make trip made me feel like I missed something that week.

As his family requested...we all need to promise to smile when thinking of Harry...it certainly is an easy promise to keep! :)

Harry Jilson was a dedicated Opticianry leader. He was a true professional, and leaves a huge hole.......not only on Optiboard, but across the collective field, and in the hearts of all he encountered. I will always remember his friendship, and the time he spent with me talking about the field. Thanks for the wonderful memories, Harry, and God Bless. I will always smile when thinking of him.

Harry joins the other "master" opticians in the forever after. I can just see Mike Disanto and all the other passed optiboarders greeting him . Life is way too short and too often taken for granted. It sounds like Harry had the best you can ask for. -A family who loved him. RIP!

Finally got to meet Harry a few years back (the first couple of times he stopped by my office in Venice, Florida, I was either on vacation or off coaching football). I spent many a day having spirited conversations with Harry and Pete. He was a great guy. My thoughts and prayers to his family.
