1.67 Stock vs 1.6 Surfaced

Hello

Typically what would turn out to be thinner and I am talking about edge thickness. 1.67 stock or 1.6 surfaced lens??

Say for example a semi rimless frame

OU -2.00 pd is narrow 59 and frame pd is 71.

If you pick one over the other how much difference do you think it will make in mm.

Side Questions:

This may sound silly but I have noticed that some demo lenses are thicker than others does that mean the thicker the demo lens the thicker the lens will turn out??

Also majority of semi rimless are open from the bottom and some are open from the side, does that make a difference in edge thickness.

Is there any truth to the above or am I just being silly and over analyzing things.

A stock lens will in almost all cases be thinner. Sure I can run a 1.0 CT on a generator that might survive degassing, but even in those cases the edge would still be thicker on most stock lenses. Japanese stock (Seiko or Somo) run thinner and flatter than European stock, in minus powers.

Yes, I think you are over analysing things for a -2.00. The difference will be very small, even between materials in that low power.

Frame selection will have a far greater impact than whether the lens is ground or stock. Fit the eye close to the center of the A.
