Help with Officemate inventory scan count

I have a question for anyone with inventory experience. So we just bought a barcode scanner and are attempting to do a scan count inventory. Is this possible with only one person and how does it work. We usually do a hand count. With the scanner I clicked on the product code box and scanned the tag but it does not do anything. Please help.

See if the proper drivers have been installed. Has the scanner worked properly when recording a sale?

Is the scanner cordless? If so you will not see the scan until you download it. You must have a driver installed to read the UPC when you down load to your program. We do monthly inventory and only use 1 person. All bar code are placed on the left temple with bar code out this allows us to turn the frame bars and an entire inventory of apprx. 1100 frames happens in about 1 hour. We do this with our contact lens inventory as well.

I find OM to be a very buggy inventory system, but it's all I've got.

Angel, are you running an Access database or SQL? Since converting to SQL our system has become more stable and less "buggy".

You should have no trouble scanning your inventory by yourself. No part of the inventory process requires that you work in tandem with another person.

If your barcode scanner isn't working, ensure that you have properly installed and configured the barcode scanner. Refer to the "Scanning & Printing Barcodes with OfficeMate Software" document that came with your scanner, particularly pages 1–4. If you have followed the instructions and scanned the configuration barcodes, and the scanner sill doesn't work, Eyefinity customer care will be happy to help you. Call 800.942.5353 or email officematesupport@eyefinity.com.
