I've seen their ads and one or two videos about them, but have no further knowlege. They seem to have nice brand new LOH equipment and everything else is sleek and modern, but check the quality of the product. Have them do a few jobs first to see how they do, then if it is good jump in.

Around here OptiSwiss is priced at $premium levels$ with the likes of Zeiss, Essilor, Hoya etc. However their quality issues have turned more of our hair white than we care to count.

    Coating problems:
Optiplas Max+ and iMax+ scratches and crazes by heat rather easily.
Max+ residual reflectance is rather high compared to competitors. Grab a "Stockline" lens and compare it with an equivalent power stock Zeiss Clarlet 1.5 Combi NT.

We had no problems with adaptation with their PALs, however coating problems forced us to stop using them.

We had more than 10 pairs of progressives with streaks, dots and particles in the coating. Some lenses could be and were used (defects were in the "kind of acceptible when looked with one squinting eye" range) but when every PAL comes with various coating problems...

The final straw was when we had to return a top of the line be 4ty+ HD5 three times (!) straight from the factory due to severely crazed, severely streaky coating with dots/particles in it.
You would thing that after the second return due to the same reasons someone would give the third pair of lenses a cursory glance before shipping them… but no such luck.

It would appear the personal quality control happens only in their promotional video...

    Bifocal centration errors:
OptiSwiss obviously can't properly work the compensation prism when generating bifocals from decentered blanks (standard curve tops and flattops).

The distance optical center location varies wildly both horizontally and vertically from where it should be related to the segment top.

You can get anything from "perfect" to 3mm off errors (so far) in various directions, but always unpredictable and random .
Naturally the inset and the horizontal centration distance go haywire as well.

We really want to use the company, but can not with all the quality issues. That's just my two cents, as Jacqui advised order some lenses and decide for yourself.

    All the best.

There seems to be something terribly wrong with what Zaphod is complaining about Optiswiss products. We have been using them for over 10 years without any such critical complaints although we belong to the hottest part of the world where peak summers can reach upto 50 degree centrigrade and crazing and delamination on coatings are major issues. I would suggest Mr. Powers to try them for some jobs and decide on your own.

    Hi,
We usually order the be4ty+ HD version with their Optiplas Max coatings. In some cases we order the other ranges as well with the basic Optiplas SHA coatings.
