Why is Eyemasters NOW VisionWorks? Are they the same company? What is different. Any employees out here?

All of the opticals owned by the Highmark Group are transferring to the Vision Works name, including Empire Optical, Eyemasters, ECA, etc.
Lost and confused in an optical wonderland!
They finally realized that *Eye Masters* was an oxymoron.
We have one that just opened near me. I'll go ask and report back!
Sharon is right. There's one across the highway from me, and its just a name change, and they've lowered the price of 2/99 to 2/89.
My first ever optical job was in a VisionWorks lab. They taught me more about optics in the first three months I worked there than I have learned in the 20 years since. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for that chain.
Similar to how most government programs tend to do the opposite of their stated name/intent?

It looks like Highmark wants to re-brand all the chains they own "up" to the best of the bunch. ECA, Davis, Empire Vision, et. al. all have brand image issues. Putting them all under the same name umbrella is a smart move on their part, but the reality is, nothing will really change IMHO.

What they ought to be doing is focusing on their staff. I had a customer come in yesterday and tell me all about the rude girl there who thought he drove up in a junky car parked directly in front of the store. She only tried to sell him the cheapest stuff and said he needed a new car before he needed glasses.
He was actually a local business owner who drove up in a Cadillac. We have a very nice pair on order for him and his business provides a service we were looking for, so he made a customer too!
