    Cdn Experience with Trivex Slippage

Still having problems with Trivex jobs slipping in the edger!
Got my new Trio wheel from Superabrasive but we had a Trivex with SRC slip today. Up until today it has only been the AR coated Trivex that slip....aargh $$ lost. Gonna switch to stock 1.6 for my nylor jobs until new blocking pads arrive.
I have 3M Leap pads on order from White Ophthalmic and we already use 3M Anti-Slip discs.

    Any experiance??

What edger are you using for trivex? Is it roughing with water or dry?. Mine is a brand new Mr Blue essilor cadilac edger and the @#%$#@ defaults to edging Trivex with water. I have to edge trivex as a polycarb.

Tak pads from salem are a must
Much better than 3M pads against slipping

I cut about 30 Trivex jobs per day with and without AR no issues. I use an Optronics HLP system and works awesome. Try using the 3M leap pads part #1695M. I use these pads for all Trivex jobs. For those with a slippery AR coat, I also use non-slip pads front and back sides in conjunction. Your lens supplier should supply these to you at no cost if you purchase your lenses from them.

Can the feed rate during roughing be adjusted? I would also check chuck pressure. If you experience slippage on minus and no slippage on plus..the chuck may not be applying the correct pressure. Try placing a blocking pad on the back surface to add thickness and see if that helps.

    We use a Nidek LE9000SE. I think it's 10 yr old.
As far as I recalll it has a TRVX setting so we've tried edging on that and the Poly setting. Also our optician mentioned doing a couple jobs on the Hi Index setting but I never followed up re his experience....stay tuned
We ordered 3M Leap Blocking Pads and Tak anti slip discs and so far no slipping. We previously used pads form 20/20 and what ever anti-slip discs the labs sent with uncuts.

    Thanks everyone
