Truthfully, I've never ordered an RX of this power and so I ordered it as a standard CR39, which the pt was insistent that they currently were wearing & didn't want anything different. Today, the order came in as a myopic lenticular/myodisc lens and I'm concerned with several things...
1. The cost difference. The patient paid for a basic plastic lens, which is substantially lower than the cost of a lenticular. We're actually 100% in the hole on this job. How do I approach this cost difference with the patient...or do I??
2. I'm under the impression that because of the severity prescription, this lens choice was the only option. I am unsure exactly as to why, if someone could explain? This will greatly help in broaching the topic with the patient and also for future information. I suppose I have been "fortunate" enough to not have seen any patients in need of these lenses, so I am unfamiliar with them.
Thank you for your knowledge & help!
